What I collect
Your email address — only if you sign up for the newsletter through MailerLite. You give it voluntarily. I use it to send you the newsletter and nothing else.
Analytics data — if you accept cookies when visiting this site, Google Analytics 4 collects anonymised information about how visitors use the site (pages visited, time on site, approximate location at country level). This helps me understand what content is useful. It does not tell me who you are.
That's it. I don't collect names unless you give them. I don't collect payment information (the site has no shop). I don't use tracking pixels or advertising cookies.
How I use it
Your email address is used only to send you the newsletter. I will not use it to contact you about anything unrelated to Ben Carrow and the books. I will not add you to any other list.
Analytics data is used to understand which pages are useful and how people find the site. It is not linked to your email address or any personally identifying information.
Third-party services
MailerLite — handles the newsletter. When you sign up, your email address is stored on MailerLite's servers under their privacy policy. You can read it at mailerlite.com/privacy-policy.
Google Analytics 4 — collects anonymised site analytics if you accept the cookie notice. You can read Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy. To opt out of Google Analytics across the web, use the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
I do not use any other third-party services that collect personal data.
Cookies
This site uses two types of cookies:
Necessary cookies — MailerLite sets a cookie to make the newsletter signup form work. You cannot opt out of this cookie without disabling the form entirely. It is functional, not tracking.
Analytics cookies — Google Analytics 4 sets cookies to track anonymised site usage. You are asked for consent when you first visit the site. If you decline, analytics cookies are not set. You can change your preference by clearing your browser's localStorage and revisiting the site.
Your rights
Unsubscribe from the newsletter — every email I send includes an unsubscribe link. One click, no questions.
Request your data — you can email me at ben@bencarrow.com to ask what information I hold about you. I will tell you.
Request deletion — you can ask me to delete your email address from MailerLite at any time. Email me and I will do it.
EU and UK residents — you have rights under GDPR including access, rectification, erasure, and the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. Contact me at ben@bencarrow.com.
Data sharing
I do not sell, rent, share, or transfer your personal information to any third party for any purpose. The only exceptions would be legal compulsion — if a court requires it. That has never happened. I don't expect it to.
